Nestled under Sumi Robata Bar, Charcoal Bar is an intimate Japanese lounge concept, with 12 seats offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Guests enter the space through a “hidden” entrance and are led down a staircase to the venue, with a design aesthetic that mimics the aftermath of fire. The walls of Charcoal Bar feature individual wooden planks that have undergone Shou-Sugi-Ban, an ancient Japanese exterior siding technique that preserves wood by charring it. Spirits bottles are displayed in a rustic, checkerboard style shelf made from reclaimed wood that hangs over the clean, galaxy-black bar top.
